Please join Glastonbury MLK Community Initiative and Glastonbury Friends of Housing on Monday, March 30th for a community conversation about the current state of, and outlook for, mixed-income and affordable housing in our town. The session will take place at the Riverfront Community Center, 300 Welles Street, with a reception at 5:30 p.m. and the discussion starting at 6:00.

Glastonbury, along with other Connecticut towns, is experiencing a serious housing shortage, resulting from a reduction in housing permits, limited inventory, and a lack of options beyond single-family homes that are large and very costly.

The March 30th event will provide an opportunity to share experiences in finding housing locally that is affordable and size and services appropriate.  Attendees will be able to express their concerns about overcrowding in schools, an increase in traffic and changes to the feel of our town, and to offer their suggestions. Bring your friends and neighbors – this is a free event open to all.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
